On Saturday the 27th, the new moon in Virgo created an atmosphere charged with the otherworldly magic of potential and infinite possibilities. But fresh intentions and desire aren’t enough to change the world on their own. This week, as the moon waxes and continues on its orbit, moving through Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius, you have the opportunity to put your plans into action, to take material steps towards your dreams. If you believe lasting change is possible and move through the world as if it is, then it will be. Have faith that your hard work isn’t in vain, and you may suddenly find that you’ve changed your trajectory, beaten the odds after all.

One of the most beautiful, frustrating parts of being human is that, at the end of the day, you can never be anyone but yourself. You have a fundamental you-ness that you can’t change or escape, and that’s fine; you’re worthy of love just as you are. But this doesn’t mean that you should resist evolving and growing. Different elements of your personality become activated in different settings; under the right circumstances, strengths you didn’t know you had suddenly appeared. This week, don’t get so focused on what you think you know that you forget: You can surprise yourself, too.

You’re always being rushed. Whether in jobs or relationships or creative projects, people are constantly pushing you to make decisions quickly, to work as fast as you can, to move forward according to their schedule rather than your own. Sometimes they’re being actively selfish, other times just eager and thoughtless, but either way, it makes your days worse. And so this week, it’s up to you to slow down and fight for the time you need. If you can stick to your own pace, you’ll be amazed at how much easier life becomes.

People don’t always notice what a good listener you are, or give you enough credit for it. You’re highly attuned to the people around you, and you have a rare gift for genuinely hearing what they have to say. Sometimes, though, you pay such careful, loving attention to others in your life that you get out of the habit of tuning into yourself — your own instincts, your own body. This week, make an effort not to neglect yourself. Eating, moving, resting — your body will tell you what it needs, and you’ll be happier if you listen.

You can sometimes be hesitant to open up to others. Not because you’re trying to hide, but because you don’t have faith that they’re interested in seeing your full humanity. Everybody loves the version of you that’s sweet and generous, but you’re not sure they’d care to see the parts that are darker or more demanding, even though this side of you is equally valid. But your friends want and deserve the chance to love you fully. This week, if you give them the opportunity to surprise you, and to welcome your whole, complicated self, they probably will.

Some people are good at coping in moments of insecurity and self-doubt. They know how to move through it without being swallowed up by it. But for you, it’s a strange, unwelcome experience. You’re accustomed to trusting yourself; when your confidence takes a hit, it’s hard to recover. This week, if you find yourself suddenly unsure, know that it won’t last forever. Don’t turn your life upside down yet, or renounce your old ambitions. You’re as strong and brilliant as you ever were, and before too long, you’ll start believing again.

In the course of a lifetime, most of us only experience a few moments of perfect clarity, in which it’s completely clear what to do next, what risks are worth taking, what our true purpose is. Most of the time, though, we’re all just muddling through, doing the best we can with the tools we have. This is totally normal. The problem is, you expect more from yourself. You imagine there’s something wrong with you when you’re just as uncertain and hesitant as everybody else. This week, be gentle with yourself. You’re doing the best you can, and despite what you may think, that’s enough.

There’s a big part of you that wants, more than anything else, a break from the burden of decision-making. You’re faced with countless choices every day, and without a road map to follow, it’s impossible to know for sure that you’re making the right ones, or the most ethical ones, or the safest ones. This week, if you can’t take a break from making decisions, you can at least stop putting so much pressure on yourself. There are no “perfect” choices, and you could spend your whole life examining every angle and never actually get anywhere. Just do the best you can, and keep moving forward.

The thing that frightens you about transformation is its unpredictability: Once you start taking steps to change your life, you can’t be sure where you’ll end up. It’s within your power to make courageous decisions that set the ball rolling, but you can’t be sure what unintended consequences your actions might have. This week, your job is not to find a way to regain a sense of control over your future, but to make peace with the unknown. Change will happen whether or not you make the big, brave move you’ve been dreaming about, so you might as well go for it. Don’t be afraid to take big swings.

Even if you’re completely satisfied with your life — with your partner, your job, your community — loneliness still creeps into your heart every so often. It happens to everyone. You begin to long for more; other people’s lives appear sweeter, more fulfilling than your own. Sometimes, when this loneliness happens, it’s a sign that something is missing, that your emotional well-being is in need of attention and care. But occasional melancholy is a natural part of being human, too. Maybe you’ll find that you need to make a major change, but maybe this mood will pass. Don’t do anything dramatic yet — just let yourself feel.

Although you don’t tend to brag much (or even speak your dreams out loud), you’re nevertheless somebody who aims high. You’d sooner demand too much of yourself than too little; you’d rather dream big and fail than go a whole lifetime without ever having seen how much you’re capable of. But this week, you’ll likely get discouraged if you try to plan far ahead. There’s too much chaos in the world for that. For now, focus on sticking to your principles, on keeping your promises to others and yourself. It will take you farther than you think.

When you get an idea firmly lodged in your head, you can be single-minded in its pursuit. You understand that acting decisively, without getting caught up in all the other choices you could make instead, is often the only way to get anything done. But this week, try to be open to the possibility that there’s more than one option worth exploring. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t trust your instincts, only that the universe is strange and complicated, and opening yourself up to its complexity will make your life richer.

When you compromise or negotiate in good faith, you’re often left feeling like the loser. It’s like you can’t give anything without being taken advantage of, like your belief in people isn’t a gift, but a liability. It’s tempting to respond by swinging all the way in the other direction, by hardening your heart, withdrawing your generosity, becoming selfish too. But your job is to resist this, not for others’ sake, but for your own. It’s possible to set healthy boundaries that protect you without closing the door to friendship and love. And this week, you’re able to figure out how.
