BMW India today launched the new BMW M2 CS in the Indian market, priced at Rs 1.66 crore (ex-showroom) before options. The company has allocated only a limited number of units of the M2 CS for India, and it will be purchased for India as CBU. The standard M2 is priced at Rs 1.02 crore (ex-showroom), the CS is priced Rs 64 lakh more than the regular model. The Center has eased localization requirements under its electric vehicle manufacturing programme, providing relief to manufacturers of electric buses and trucks facing component supply challenges. As per PTI report, the move comes under the government’s Rs 10,900 crore PM e-Drive scheme, which aims to boost domestic EV production while strengthening the supply chain for key components.
