JSW MG Motor India will increase car prices from this date: Details

JSW MG Motor India has announced a 2 percent increase in prices of all its models. The price hike will be effective from January 1, 2026 and MG says it is a response to rising input costs and broader macroeconomic factors impacting the automotive sector. The company explained that the revision is necessary to partially absorb increased expenses in manufacturing and supply chain operations. The upcoming revision is set to affect some of MG’s high-demand models. Topping the list is the Windsor EV, currently the company’s best-selling electric car, which is likely to see a price hike of up to Rs 35,000. Once revised, its ex-showroom price is expected to start at Rs 14.25 lakh (ex-showroom). MG’s entry-level EV, Comet, is also expected to get a hike of around Rs 20,000, taking its ex-showroom prices to around Rs 7.7 lakh (ex-showroom). MG is likely to reveal revised prices for different models and variants as early as next month. It is still not clear whether the recently launched Hector facelift will also be included in the price revision or not.

Talking about the newly launched MG Hector facelift, prices start at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Hector Plus and Rs 17.29 lakh (ex-showroom). This update is the second major refresh of the Hector since its arrival in 2019 and includes noticeable cosmetic upgrades inside and out, additional features, advanced safety technology, and many other improvements. Currently, the company has announced prices only for the petrol variants, while prices for the diesel versions are slated for 2026. Interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting the company’s official website. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. It will continue to compete with rivals like Tata Harrier, Safari, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar and others in the segment. On the outside, the updated Hector brings subtle but noticeable styling revisions. The large grille retains its familiar shape but now has a fresh honeycomb-style pattern in place of the earlier diamond design, while the lower air intake has been lightly reworked. The alloy wheels have also been redesigned, continuing as 18-inch units shod with 215/55 tyres, and the SUV rides on the same black wheel-arches and side cladding. The lighting elements remain unchanged, the split headlamp setup and connected LED tail-lamps are carried over from the previous model, as are the bumpers, DRL module and shark-fin antenna. Completing the updates are new exterior color options, including Celadon Blue and Pearl White, which add a little more variety to the Hector’s color palette.Moving inside, the updated MG Hector gets a refreshed dual-tone urban tan cabin theme and an upgraded 14-inch portrait-style touchscreen that now supports MG’s Eye-Swipe gesture control. Using this system, a two-finger swipe adjusts climate controls, while a three-finger gesture manages audio functions such as track selection and volume. The infotainment system also benefits from an upgraded VRAM module, expandable up to 10 GB. The feature list remains extensive, including a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, connected car technology, 360-degree camera, horizontal AC vents, a digital auto key with proximity lock and unlock and an Infinity by Harman audio system.Mechanically, it remains unchanged. It continues to be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine with 143hp and 250Nm, and paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The second engine is a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 170hp and 350Nm, which comes only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. MG also offers its unique MG Shield ownership program as standard, which includes a 3+3+3 package that includes a three-year, unlimited kilometer warranty, three years of roadside assistance and three labour-free periodic services.
