With so many options available across segments, choosing a car with strong fuel efficiency can have a marked impact on running costs. From city-focused hatchbacks to compact sedans and hybrids, some models are known for their fuel efficiency in everyday driving. Here’s a look at the top five most fuel efficient cars available.Maruti Suzuki VictorisThe first car on the list is the Maruti Suzuki Victorious Hybrid, which has a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.65 kmpl. The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine with 116 hp and 144 Nm, which comes mated to an e-CVT gearbox. There is also a 1.5-litre NA petrol with manual, AWD and CNG options.

    Maruti Victoris

    It gets features like 8-way adjustable, ventilated front seats, a sunroof and 60W fast charging support. It also gets an auto Alexa voice assistant with AI, Suzuki Connect with 60+ connected car features, a powered tailgate with gesture control, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-speaker surround sound system. Safety features include 6 airbags, discs on all four brakes, electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS features.

    Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara And toyota hayrider The next set of SUVs are the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hayrider. Since both the SUVs are badge-engineered models jointly developed by Toyota and Maruti, they share similar engine options and offer similar fuel efficiency figures. The strong hybrid variant of the SUV has a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97 kmpl. It is powered by a 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine that produces 116 hp and 144 Nm, paired with an e-CVT gearbox. Additionally, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is also offered in AWD and CNG variants with manual transmission options.

    Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyderabad

    Honda City E: HEVThe only sedan in the list is the Honda City e:HEV, also known as the Honda City Hybrid, which has a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.26 kmpl. The City Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine paired with two electric motors. Its combined power output is 125 hp and 253 Nm of torque and it comes mated to an e-CVT gearbox. In terms of features, it gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, connected car technology, ambient lighting, electric sunroof, 7-inch color TFT instrument cluster and more.

    Maruti Swift and Celerio

    Maruti Suzuki Celerio Next is the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, whose fuel efficiency is claimed to be 26 kilometers per litre. The Celerio is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder NA petrol with 69 hp and 91 Nm of torque. Gearbox options include 5-speed MT or AMT. Talking about the features, it has a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push button start/stop, manual air conditioning, keyless entry, voice recognition and more. Maruti Suzuki Swift The fifth car in the list Maruti Suzuki Swift has a fuel efficiency of 25.75 kmpl. The hatch is powered by a Z-series, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, NA petrol engine with 82 hp of power and 112 Nm of torque. In terms of features, it gets a free-standing 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car technology, wireless charger, semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, steering-mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-button start, rear parking camera with sensors and more.
