Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z gets new 350cc engine! How does performance change?

Bajaj Auto has updated the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z with a new 350cc engine, and the change has been announced quietly through its official website. Although the mechanical updates are significant, the price remains unchanged for now at Rs 1,93,900, ex-showroom. We expect the pricing to be revised as a similar update was done for the Dominar recently, which resulted in a significant price drop of around Rs 37,000.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 400Z: What’s changed?

The biggest update comes in the form of a new 349cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor. This unit produces 40 hp and 33.2 Nm of torque. Compared to the earlier 373cc engine, this marks a drop of 2.4 hp and 1.8 Nm. Interestingly, this output is similar to what the motorcycle delivered at the time of its initial launch. The new engine is expected to be closely related to the unit seen on the Bajaj Dominar 400 in its latest form. As part of the changes, Bajaj has reduced the stroke by 60 mm to 56.1 mm, reducing the engine’s displacement from 373cc to 349cc, while keeping the bore unchanged at 89 mm.

Apart from the engine, there have been no changes to the rest of the motorcycle. The NS400Z continues to use the same frame and wears 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by a USD front fork and rear monoshock, while braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS.The move is in line with Bajaj’s recent strategy of downsizing its larger capacity motorcycles into the 350cc bracket. As of now, the price of Pulsar NS400Z remains unchanged on the company’s website, though it remains to be seen whether Bajaj will revise it in the coming days.
