Tata Motors has expanded the powertrain options for the Harrier and Safari by introducing a new turbo-petrol option. Both SUVs now get the 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine, which recently debuted in the Sierra. However, the situation is different for these SUVs.The new petrol engine produces 170 PS and 280 Nm of torque. With this addition, the Harrier and Safari now cater to buyers who prefer petrol power, especially as the demand for petrol SUVs continues to grow in the market.Along with the new engine, Tata has also introduced several feature upgrades across the range. Both SUVs now come with a larger 14.5-inch Samsung QLED infotainment touchscreen, Dolby Atmos sound tuning and a 10-speaker JBL audio system. The system also supports Tata’s Arcade app suite and navigation which continues to work even without network connectivity.
Some features of the Harrier EV have also been carried over to the petrol-powered Harrier and Safari. These include a digital interior rear-view mirror with an integrated dash camera, front and rear camera washers as part of the 360-degree camera setup, memory-based ORVMs and a sliding front armrest. In terms of design, the petrol versions remain similar to their diesel counterparts. There are no changes to the exterior or interior styling to differentiate them, with Tata offering the same variant structure across both fuel options. Harrier Petrol is available in Smart, Pure X, Pure X Dark, Adventure, Adventure X Dark, Fearless X and Fearless X Dark trim. The Safari Patrol follows a similar approach, consisting of Smart, Pure, Pure x Dark, Adventure X+, Adventure x+ Dark, Accomplished
