Tesla India today launched the new Tesla Model YL premium electric vehicle in the Indian market. L stands for Long Wheelbase and it comes with a six-seat configuration with captain seats for the middle row. It is also the first Model Y variant to be offered with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup in India. Interested customers can book the car online or by visiting their nearest Tesla dealership, with deliveries expected to begin soon. priceFirst of all, talking about the price, the new Tesla Model YL is the new top-of-the-line variant in the premium electric Model Y lineup. The new Model Y long wheelbase variant is priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Model Y Premium RWD is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh and Model Y Premium RWD Long Range is priced at Rs 67.89 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The model is manufactured at Tesla’s Shanghai plant and is imported into India as a completely built unit (CBU).Design and dimensions In terms of design, the new Tesla Model YL features a clean and minimalist design approach, with a slightly extended stance that enhances its road presence while retaining the brand’s familiar style. At the front, it features a closed nose in place of the conventional grille, as well as neatly integrated LED headlamps. In profile, the longer wheelbase results in more balanced proportions and a more streamlined appearance. It also retains the flush-fitting door handles and smooth body surfaces with minimal design lines.A large glass roof spans most of the car, contributing to a more open and premium look. At the rear, the design is kept attractive, with sleek LED tail lamps, a subtle boot lip and minimal badging. In terms of dimensions, the wheelbase of the new Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase is 3,040 mm, which is 150 mm longer than the standard version. Overall length has increased by 179 mm to 4,969 mm, while width remains unchanged at 1,982 mm. Height has increased by 44 mm to 1,668 mm. Ground clearance is 169mm, which is 2mm more than the regular model.
Interior and FeaturesMoving inside, the car gets a six-seat configuration in a 2+2+2 layout. The long wheelbase variant offers increased rear seat space and better cabin comfort compared to the standard model, increasing its suitability for family use. In terms of features, it gets heated and ventilated seats for both the front and second row, a heated steering wheel, a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual wireless charging pads, extended under-thigh support for the front seats and pillar-mounted rear AC vents.

Battery and range Tesla has not revealed detailed specifications such as battery size, power and torque figures, but based on the right-hand-drive version sold in Australia, the Model YL is expected to use an 85kWh (net) battery with an estimated output of 456hp and 590Nm, making it the most powerful Model Y in India. It is the only variant to offer an all-wheel-drive setup, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 5 seconds and a range of 681 km. In comparison, the rear-wheel-drive model is rated at 500 km, while the long-range version offers up to 661 km.color options The model YL is offered with six exterior color options and two interior themes, with Stealth Gray and a Black cabin available as standard. Pearl White Multi-Coat and Diamond Black cost an additional Rs 95,000, while Glacier Blue costs an additional Rs 1.25 lakh. Ultra Red and Cosmic Silver are available at a premium of Rs 1.85 lakh. The Zen Gray interior theme is also optional and costs Rs 95,000. The model YL is offered with 19-inch Machina 2.0 alloy wheels as standard and this version is one of the few available in markets outside China.
