    Kia is preparing to start bookings for the new generation Seltos on December 11. The model was recently unveiled and bookings can be done for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Prices will be announced on January 2 and deliveries are expected to begin by mid-January. The updated Seltos will continue to compete in the much-coveted space that now includes the newly launched Tata Sierra and Hyundai Creta, which remain the segment leaders. Here’s a quick look at how these models stack up against each other in terms of engine options and specifications.

    All three models take different approaches when it comes to their powertrain lineups. Tata has given the Sierra a wide range of engine options. It gets a 1.5-litre Kryotec turbo diesel which produces 118 hp and 280 Nm of torque. Buyers can also opt for a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that produces 106 hp and 145 Nm or a more powerful 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo petrol that produces 160 hp and 260 Nm of torque.The Sierra Turbo offers a choice of 6-speed automatic with petrol, 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with NA petrol and 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with diesel.

    Hyundai and Kia continue to share their engine family. Both the Creta and Seltos get a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 160 hp and 253 Nm of torque. The familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor returns with 115 hp and 144 Nm, while the 1.5-litre diesel option produces 116 hp and 250 Nm.In terms of gearbox options, all three SUVs offer a mix of manual and automatic transmissions.
