Mercedes-Benz India today finally launched the new Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric, which is priced at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the new CLA EV is now the most affordable Mercedes-Benz you can buy in the Indian market. Pre-booking for the EV is already underway; Interested customers can book online or visit their nearest dealership. Mercedes says it has already received over 400 bookings. The new Mercedes-Benz CLA is available in three variants – CLA 200 Standard Range Progressive Line priced at Rs 55 lakh, CLA 250+ Long Range AMG Line priced at Rs 59 lakh. There is also a CLA 250+ Long Range Launch Edition, which will be offered in limited numbers and is priced at Rs 64 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).Talking about the first limited long-range Launch Edition, it is equipped with a SuperScreen that has three digital displays, along with matte black exterior finish, large 19-inch alloy wheels, illuminated door sills and edition-specific ambient lighting. It also gets leather upholstery and premium trim material. This and the AMG Line trim are powered by an 85kWh NMC battery pack mated to a rear-mounted electric motor, producing 272hp and 335Nm, and a claimed 0-100kph time of 6.7 seconds. It has a WLTP-claimed range of up to 792 km, and also gets a two-speed gearbox.
The CLA 200 Standard Range uses a 58kWh battery with a WLTP-claimed range of up to 542 km. It is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 224hp and 335Nm, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 7.5 seconds. The CLA EV supports up to 320kW fast charging through its 800V architecture, allowing a range top-up of 300 km in 10 minutes. Mercedes has also increased the ground clearance and modified the suspension for Indian conditions..The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV features a minimalist, screen-centric cabin that prioritizes technology and usability. The highlight of the cabin is a dual-screen layout with a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin features a three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, while the carbon-fibre finish on the center console adds a sportier visual touch. Features include 64-color ambient lighting, 16-speaker Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos, heated, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, six 100W USB-C fast-charging ports, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car technology, the latest MBUX with AI integration and more.The new Mercedes-Benz CLA EV emphasizes aerodynamics and has a drag coefficient of 0.21. The sedan adopts a low stance, long wheelbase and short overhangs for balanced proportions. At the front, it features a gloss-black closed grille panel with shiny star-pattern elements and a central Mercedes emblem. Slim LED headlamps are connected to a light bar across the fascia, while the bumper features functional air inlets to aid cooling and airflow. In profile, the CLA EV retains the frameless doors and sloping roofline. It also features flush door handles and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels to improve efficiency. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar with star-pattern detailing reflects the front lighting design. The bumper has a clean finish, while other features include chrome accents, a grille with 142 small backlit stars, a panoramic glass roof with heat-protective coating and five-spoke aero wheels.
