    Tata Motors has expanded its fleet-centric portfolio with the launch of the Express sedan in petrol and CNG variants, making it one of the most popular options in the commercial sedan segment to take on the Maruti Dezire Tour S. While both models are aimed squarely at fleets and taxi operators, they come at this sector with slightly different strengths. Here’s how the two compare in terms of price, powertrain and key features.

    Tata Express vs Maruti Dezire Tour S: Engine Options

    The Tata Xpres petrol and CNG are powered by Tata Motors’ 1.2-litre Revotron engine paired with a manual gearbox. In petrol form, it produces 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque. The CNG version produces lower outputs of 75.5 hp and 95 Nm.Maruti’s Dezire Tour S gets a new 1.2-litre Z-series petrol engine. In petrol form, it generates 81.58 hp and 111.7 Nm of torque, while the CNG variant produces 69.75 hp and 101.8 Nm of torque. Both versions are offered with manual transmission.

    The Dezire Tour S is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts and three-point seatbelts for all occupants.The Tata Xpres gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a reverse parking camera. The CNG variant also includes a leak detection system that automatically switches the car to petrol mode in the event of a gas leak.

    Tata Express vs Maruti Dezire Tour S: Boot practicality

    The biggest talking point of the Tata Xpres CNG is its twin-cylinder CNG tank setup. This first-in-segment layout allows Tata to maintain a usable boot space of 227 litres. In petrol form it gives space of 419 liters.In comparison, the Dezire Tour S offers a 382-litre boot in petrol form, although the boot space gets reduced in the CNG variant due to the conventional tank layout.
