Toyota Urban Cruiser Abella EV launched in India: Design, range, features and more

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has entered the mass-market electric car sector with the unveiling of the urban cruiser Abella. Developed as a badge-engineered model, the electric SUV shares most of its underpinnings and layout with the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Although prices are yet to be announced, bookings are now open at Toyota dealerships for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Toyota is also offering an 8-year battery warranty, 60 percent assured buyback program and Battery-as-a-Service option. Take a closer look at what the new electric SUV brings to the table.

In terms of design, the urban cruiser Abela retains a silhouette and dimensions similar to the e-Vitara, but gets Toyota-specific styling touches. At the front, it gets a revised fascia with segmented LED DRLs, reworked headlamps and a slimmer bumper, giving it a cleaner and less angular appearance than its Maruti counterpart. The side profile remains largely unchanged apart from the newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, while the rear sees an updated tail-lamp signature with Urban Cruiser and Abella badging. This model will be available in 5 monotone and 4 dual-tone color options.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Abella: Battery and powertrain

The urban cruiser Abella will be available with two battery pack options: a 49 kWh unit and a larger 61 kWh unit. It is claimed that it offers a range of up to 543 km on a single charge. As for power figures, it produces 172 hp and 189 Nm of torque.

The cabin layout remains unchanged and in terms of features, this electric SUV gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen supported by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloud-based navigation, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 color options and ventilated front seats. Apart from this, it has features like wireless charging, JBL sound system, automatic climate control, multiple USB ports and in-cabin air purifier. In terms of safety, the model gets seven airbags as standard, ABS, EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS functions like lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and more.
